AI strategy and leadership coaching

Most AI conversations start with the technology. The useful ones start with the business. What are you trying to grow, fix or protect, and where can AI move those numbers this quarter and over the next few years?

AI strategy and leadership coaching gives CEOs and business owners private time with Chris Kovac to answer those questions for their own company. Sessions lead with business outcomes and return on investment, then turn those priorities into a roadmap for your AI journey. Leading an AI transformation is a change management job as much as a technical one, so the conversation covers your people as well as your tools, and it stays honest about what AI can and cannot deliver.

Chris Kovac spent more than 20 years in marketing and technology and started as an AI skeptic. He put AI to work in a business he ran before advising others, so the strategy conversation is grounded in operations, budgets and people, not slideware. He is also co-founder and President of the Kansas City AI Club.

Every session is a la carte. Book this topic on its own or combine it with other topics in the same session or block of hours. There is no program to join and no required order.

Who this is for

  • CEOs and owners who are being asked about AI by their board, investors or customers and want a clear point of view
  • Leaders who have tried a few AI tools but have no plan connecting them to business results
  • Executives responsible for an AI transformation who want a sounding board outside the company
  • Leadership teams that disagree on how fast to move and want an outside perspective

What we cover in a session

  • Your business goals for the year ahead and where AI can realistically support them
  • How to measure the return on AI spending, including time saved, costs and adoption
  • A roadmap that separates near-term actions from longer-term bets
  • Building versus buying, and when to bring in outside help
  • Leading people through the change, including the fear that AI will replace them
  • How to communicate your AI direction to employees, customers and your board

What you get from every session

  • A short pre-session survey, so Chris knows your goals and questions before you meet
  • The consulting time itself, focused on your business and your decisions
  • A transcript of the meeting for virtual sessions
  • A written summary with clear action items, delivered within one business day

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be technical to benefit?

No. Sessions are built for business leaders, not engineers. Chris explains what matters in plain language and keeps the focus on the decisions you need to make.

How long does it take to build an AI roadmap?

Many leaders leave a single session with a first draft of priorities and next steps. Others use a block of hours over several months to refine the roadmap as they learn. You decide how much time to book.

Do you recommend specific AI vendors?

Recommendations are based on what your business needs, not on any platform. If tool choice is the main question, AI tool selection coaching goes deeper on that topic.

What should I prepare before a strategy session?

The pre-session survey covers your goals, your team and what is in front of you. It only takes a few minutes. Bring your current priorities and any AI efforts already underway.

Can a strategy session include my leadership team?

Yes. 90-minute and 2-hour sessions work well for small groups, in person in the Kansas City area or on Zoom. For ongoing team coaching, see AI coaching for leadership teams.
